It was a last minute decision to leave my job of 9 years to go back to school. Extremely nervous and second guessing my choice to go back, I scheduled a tour for NTI Scarborough. The previously stressful process of getting “all my ducks in a row” to even find out if I could afford to–as well as meet the prerequisites in time–to enroll in school was met with ease thanks to extremely helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff that supported my decision. They also supported me through the entire process and entire course, including post- graduation job placements and questions.
I’ll start off by saying, “Thank you.” I had a great experience at NTI. The instructors were very helpful and filled with a lot of great information. After obtaining my license on Monday, I filled out a few apps at some local companies around me and on Tuesday got a call from Chapman Trucking. I was offered a job hauling for the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Lewiston. Opportunities are endless in this industry!
Flexible hours are important to me because I’m someone who typically works several jobs while trying to finish school and further my career. So, I was able to do both at the same time. The instructors here as NTI are amazing! They make sure that you’re going to succeed, and that is something that a lot of schooling systems are kind of missing.
I decided not to go to medical school because of the monetary and time commitment that I just wasn’t prepared to do. But, I knew that I still wanted to pursue a career in the healthcare field. A friend of mine completed the Medical Assistant Program here at NTI and absolutely raved about it. She loved it. And, so I knew that if I completed that program, too, I’d be able to get a job anywhere as a medical assistant.
The program is great! The teachers go above and beyond to provide all of the knowledge and skills we need to excel once we get in the field. As I reflect on the last six months, I feel that my knowledge has increased 100%. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a student here.
NTI is fantastic! Going back to school was a bit intimidating but the instructors are so kind, caring and easy to talk to. They make everything simple and easy for you to be successful!
Obviously, English is not my first language, but at NTI, they were very patient with me. I really feel comfortable in this program. When I decided to become a medical assistant, I looked first at a local community college, but the program was three years. I learned about NTI because one of my friends came to NTI and finished in six months. Six months! Not two years!
I chose NTI because I need to have my training quickly because I have a family of five kids. I needed quick training to get into a trade. Even before I graduated from NTI, I received a job offer from Pine State Services.
About 6 years ago, I had been enrolled in a local university. It was hard to take my classes, finish my homework, and tend my child. The thing with NTI is that the you come to class when the timing is best for you. Personally, for myself I could go to school, while my child was in school.
At the age of 54, I realized that I didn’t have a lot of stability in my life, and I was looking for a secure occupation. I landed on NTI because of the flexible schedule. It enabled me to work full-time while I was going to school. The best thing about NTI is that it’s really been a confidence builder for me, and I realized that even at my age, there’s still a lot I can learn.
I have been working in a group home for adults with disabilities. I really love what I do, but the $10.75 an hour just was not doing it for my family. I looked into possibilities of going to a local university, which was a two-year program. I knew that I could not be out of work for that long. I heard NTI on the radio, and I knew 6 months was the plan for me.
